WINTER BLISS (December 1 thru March 1)
Homeguard yellowtail and big halibut highlight the fishing on these trips. Throw in an occasional white seabass, excellent fishing for vermillion rockfish and lingcod, and some of the best viewing of the Grey whale migration on the entire coast. Some of the best fishing for big yellowtail and halibut of the entire year occurs during the Winter Bliss, and 2013-2014 was one for the ages.
Destinations: San Diego coast, Baja coast, offshore islands (8 to 12 hours)
- $800 1 or 2 anglers;
- $1200 3 anglers
*Custom longer trips available
SPRING FLING (March 1 thru June 15)
The days are getting longer, the water warmer. Swaths of local pelagics are invading the coast, at times in great numbers and veracity. The “season” is kicking in to high gear. Tanker white seabass, giant mossback yellowtail, hungry halibut and often the first bluefins of the year are taken during this rapidly changing time of year.
Destinations: San Diego coast, Baja coast, offshore islands (8 to 12 hours)
- $950 1 or 2 anglers;
- $1400 3 anglers

SUMMER/FALL CLASSIC (June 16 thru Dec. 31)
Long, warm days. Tropical, balmy nights. Seabass limit back to three. Squid nests are a plenty and offshore prospects improve as summer sinks in. Huge schools of bluefin tuna and yellowtail migrate up the coast while the chance of a seabass/yellowtail/halibut trifecta exists on a specific corner of a certain squid nest. Kelp patties wander aimlessly offshore, giving cover to baitfish and attracting every pelagic predator imaginable. The chance at a five-species patty and the possibility of a shot at a striped marlin, or even a broadbill swordfish exists. Then September hits and every day there is less boat traffic. Every fish is big now, the days a little shorter but the marine layer giving way to spectacular fall skies. An angler could catch just about anything the SoCal bight has to offer and sometimes the hardest part about fishing the Fall Classic is, in fact, which species to target.
Destinations: San Diego coast, Baja coast, offshore islands, offshore banks, trenches and high spots.
- Inshore (8 to 12 hours)
$950 1 or 2 anglers; $1400 3 anglers - Offshore/Islands (12 to 14 hours)
